What a Missed Call Actually Costs a Contractor

A back-of-the-envelope calculation every trade owner should do once, and the two cheap fixes that change the number.

Here is the arithmetic. Take your average ticket. For a service call it might be $350; for an install it might be $9,000. Now estimate how many calls you miss in a week — not the ones you call back an hour later, the ones that went to voicemail and never left a message.

Industry surveys put the voicemail hang-up rate for home services somewhere around eight in ten. Of those, a large share simply call the next company. If you miss ten calls a week and close a third of the ones you answer, you are losing roughly three jobs a week to the next listing.

The two fixes

Missed-call text-back. When a call goes unanswered, a text goes out within seconds: “Sorry we missed you — how can we help?” Most people reply. Now you have a conversation instead of a lost lead, and you can answer it from the truck.

An AI receptionist for overflow. For the calls you cannot take, an assistant trained on your services answers, books the appointment on your calendar, and sends a confirmation. The caller gets what they wanted, which was never a voicemail box.

Both run on your existing number. Both cost less per month than one missed service call. Try ours by calling (518) 777-2263 — the assistant that answers is the same one we'd configure for you.
